Aston Villa in fresh transfer talk as agent opens door for move

The possibility of Aston Villa being the next stop for AS Roma left-back Leonardo Spinazzola has surfaced.

The 30-year-old Villa and rivals Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in the Italian, according to La Roma 24. He is free to speak with another team this month as his contract is about to expire in the summer.

Sport Italia was informed by his representative Davide Lippe that there is no possibility of a renewal. If the January market doesn’t improve, [his contract] will expire.

Apart from Villa and Arsenal, Spinazzola is apparently being pursued by Galatasaray and multiple Saudi Arabian clubs, according per II Tempo. However, as of yet, “no concrete offers” have been made.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho once stated of Spinazzola, “Not only is he a great professional but he has also shown great personal qualities.”

Alex Moreno and Lucas Digne are Unai Emery’s alternatives for left backs. The latter is expected to be absent for several weeks due to a hamstring issue.
