Dan Plumley has insisted that Aston Villa are likely set for a straight cash transaction from Legia Warsaw after they were ordered to pay damages.
The Polish side was ordered by UEFA to contact Villa directly to pay for damages caused by fans after clashes with the Police before the Europa League game [Dan Salisbury-Jones].
The finance expert admitted that it may be in the regulations that they have to pay upfront, with the small chance of it being made in transactions swept aside.
“It’s an interesting question,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“The honest answer is we don’t know because these things don’t happen that often but again, the working assumption there and the reality of the situation is that’s how it will probably work out.
“If the fine and decision has been made, and it’s a payment that needs to be made to Villa, you would assume that will just be a straightforward cash transaction.
“You could offer it on some sort of terms where you pay it in instalments, but you would probably think that Villa will be saying that they will just have the money upfront and thank you very much and that’s the end of it.
“Officially, we don’t get an answer as it can be done in a number of ways, but I think the working assumption is that would be a straight cash transaction if you can make sure the deal is that or put it into the deal that it has to be done that way which may be in the regulations anyway.”
