Aston Villa set to land “special” talent from Arsenal in player-plus-cash scenario come January

Emery has coached the player in question before…

According to speculations, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery may be planning a midfield reorganization that includes a player swap with Premier League opponent Arsenal.

Aston Villa back to winning ways vs Fulham

Thanks to goals from John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, and Antonee Robinson’s own goal, Aston Villa defeated Fulham 3-1 in the West Midlands on Sunday to resume their winning ways in the Premier League.

Now, the Villans sit fifth in the English top-flight standings with 25 points taken from their opening 12 fixtures, just three behind Manchester City, who find themselves at the summit of the table

During the press conference following the game, Aston Villa manager Emery expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance against the Cottagers, saying on the club website: “I’m very happy.” We needed the enthusiasm and support of our supporters, therefore we decided to get in touch with them. The crowd were incredible in under ninety minutes, cheering us on and attempting to assist us. Here in Villa Park, we’re feeling great. It was a great first half. We had several opportunities in the first ten minutes, controlled the play, scored two goals, and stayed clear of their transitions and strategy.

“They had a few scoring opportunities and the game became more open than I had intended in the second half. Because every club has talented players and the game is competitive, we were unable to maintain the same level of control as we did in the first half. We once again scored the first goal, but they demonstrated that in the second half. They played the entire game and scored, but we played the final 20 minutes with seriousness and kept our strategy in mind.”

Aston Villa will take a well-earned breather before the international break before playing away to Tottenham Hotspur on November 26.

Emile Smith Rowe could replace Douglas Luiz…

According to a report from Football London, Aston Villa could potentially inherit Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe as part of a swap that would see Douglas Luiz head to the Emirates Stadium.

Luiz continues to be on the radar for Arsenal as they search for replacements to step in for the injured Thomas Partey, who is out for the remainder of 2023. The outlet have hinted at a potential swap deal in light of Aston Villa’s previous interest in Smith Rowe, which stems back to 2021.

Smith Rowe, who has previously been labelled “special” by pundit Jamie Carragher, has made 104 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions, registering 18 goals and 12 assists (Smith Rowe statistics – Transfermarkt), with some of that time spent under Emery.

Nevertheless, his future now looks to be uncertain in north London and there is a possibility that he could move on in the January transfer window.
