Can’t play for this national team” – Aston Villa player described as ‘disappointment no. 1’, huge frustration with him

Matty Cash of Aston Villa has played in 13 games this season and has three goals and two assists. Under Unai Emery, Cash has been a vital player at Villa Park.

The right-back isn’t playing as well for Poland as he did for his club, and this raises concerns.

Meczyki.pl was informed by Polish journalists Łukasz Olkowicz and Mateusz Święcicki that they are dissatisfied with the Aston Villa player’s performances for his nation.

In Poland’s 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands on Thursday, Cash started as a right wing-back and was substituted in the 59th minute by Pawel Wszolek.

After the match, Poland coach Michał Probierz said that he substituted Cash for the Villans fullback, who had been given a yellow card in the first half, in order to prevent him from being sent off.

“There was a significant gap between the left and the right. That difference can’t be that great. Almost everything dangerous occurred on the left side, according to Olkowicz.
“I don’t understand Cash’s inability to compete for this national team. This is the first letdown for me. This player, who frequently competes in the Premier League, joins a mediocre European squad where he was expected to be a key member.

“We are dealing with a player who has been doing great since the beginning of the season,” Święcicki said in reference to Cash’s performance for the national team. I find it incomprehensible that he stumbles around the pitch while playing for the Polish national team and cannot generate any captivating action.

When Poland plays Moldova in the European qualifying round on Sunday, the Aston Villa player is anticipated to start again, and it’s obvious that much more is expected of him.
