The latest Aston Villa transfer news as eight players could leave and five are tipped to stay in January.
With three wins out of six in the UEFA Europa Conference League and a spot in the top five of the Premier League, Aston Villa is off to a fantastic start to the new campaign.
The opportunity to consider the campaign thus far has been provided to supporters by the October international break. Time has also allowed for reflection on the players who have and have not impressed the most.
Although Unai Emery’s team is performing admirably, there have been notable discrepancies in performance and intensity levels among the group, thus January intervention may be necessary.
Here are eight players who could go and five who most certainly won’t, ranging from those who haven’t had enough playing time to those who have struggled or excelled.
1. Calum Chambers – could leave
Has really struggled when called upon so far this season. Also hasn’t had much game time, so that’s a reason for all parties to agree on a departure.
2. Leander Dendoncker – could leave
Similarly to Chambers, the Belgian hasn’t been able to nail down a spot at all this term and could be moved on to fund a replacement.
3. migTim Iroegbunamht depart
He hasn’t played because he’s just now getting back to full health, but given the fierce competition in Villa’s midfield, he might go out on another loan this winter.
4. Kortney Hause—may depart
Hause, the man who gets overlooked, is still under contract with Villa but is not even involved in the game because he hasn’t registered. It makes sense to leave quickly.
