In his prediction for Saturday’s game at Villa Park, Mark Lawrenson cannot tell Aston Villa and Brighton apart. The Villans are looking to rebound from their discouraging 2-1 Carabao Cup loss at home to Everton in midweek. It followed an impressive performance away at Chelsea last weekend in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
Villa take on a Brighton team who have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign as they sit third in the Premier League table. Roberto de Zerbi’s side were also knocked out of the league cup in midweek, losing 1-0 at Chelsea with a much-changed team.
“Aston Villa lost to Everton in the Carabao Cup during the week and Brighton went out to Chelsea too, though both played slightly weakened teams,” he told Paddypower.
“I think this might be a draw, we’ve got two good managers and two good teams and I think it’ll be a nice game of football but I’m not sure there will be that many chances somehow.”
