Bryan Abreu, was freed , after Astros fans protest during loss to Rangers”

Houston Astros fans spoke up on Sunday despite their team’s defeat in Game 6 of the ALCS.

Fans of the Astros began waving signs that said, “Free Bryan Abreu,” from the very first inning of the game.

FS1 cameras paned to several fans at Minute Maid Park who were holding up the sign simultaneously.

After it was determined that Astros reliever Abreu deliberately threw at Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia in Game 5, leading to a benches-clearing altercation, Major League Baseball just punished Abreu for two games (see here).

Nevertheless, Abreu successfully challenged the suspension, clearing the way for him to start on Sunday (he did, giving up two hits and an earned run in the top of the eighth inning). Texas went on to defeat Houston 9–2.

It’s obvious that Astros supporters will stop at nothing to support Abreu. However, if the latest information regarding the ban is accurate, Abreu seems to have been released (at least temporarily).
