Caley Thistle hit by double defensive injury setback ahead of crunch clash with Ayr United*

Both Australian Nikola Ujdur and Wigan centre half James Carragher, who is on loan, are not in training, though the latter may play this weekend.

James Carragher and Nikola Ujdur, two Caley Thistle defenders, are out of the lineup for Saturday’s home match against Ayr United.

Due to a hamstring injury, Australian Ujdur hasn’t started since the team’s 4-0 victory against Broomhill in the Scottish Cup on January 20.

The 25-year-old was back on the sidelines for last Saturday’s goalless Championship draw against Airdrie, but he is not in the running for this weekend due to an injury sustained in training.

The Wigan Athletic defender Carragher, who is on loan, is doubtful for this weekend’s ninth vs eighth match due to a foot injury he sustained against the Diamonds.

“Niko is out,” manager Duncan Ferguson declared. After working out for a few days, he strained his hamstring again.

The long-term residents are still absent. Nobody is near. Due to a thigh injury, Sean McAllister will be out for an additional four to six weeks.

Midfielder Roddy MacGregor is also sidelined due to a foot injury, and attacker Harry Lodovica is recuperating from a chronic ankle problem.

As previously reported, Ferguson acknowledged that he may still extend a contract offer to his son Cameron, a free agency, in an effort to increase his squad size for the next eight games.

After spending time on loan at League Two team Forfar Athletic, the 20-year-old left Newcastle United and has been training with ICT for the past month.

“Cameron is on my mind (for a contract) because of the low numbers within the squad,” the manager stated.

Ferguson also hopes that another forward on trial might be considered for a deal, but he claims he needs to recover from an injury before being evaluated.

“We’re still looking at a player who came from an English team but was out in the Czech Republic,” he continued. Regretfully, his injuries have not healed. He is a striker who plays off the wings and is a ten. He is a proficient forward.

He was just in the gym for a few days. On Tuesday, he was unavailable for the bounce game.

We are unable to sign an injured athlete, thus we cannot move forward.

We still have a little bit of time left because the signing deadline is at the end of this month. He requires
