Monkton Bypass Loans, A78
Due to an overturned lorry, the southbound A78 Monkton Bypass is closed. Heavy traffic is backed up from B746 (The Loans turn off, Loans) to the A77 Prestwick Bypass (Monkton).
The A78 SB off-slip for Troon to the Monktonhead Roundabout will be closed. Work will not interfere with the operation of the Monktonhead roundabout.
Traffic heading south will be redirected to follow the A78 southward from Warrix Interchange, joining the A71 until Bellfield Interchange, then continuing onto the A77. Vehicles will then follow the A77 to Dutch House Roundabout, where they can turn left or right to reach Monktonhead Roundabout.
Local traffic leaving the A78 at Meadhowhead Roundabout to proceed to the A759 Dundonald / Barassie Junction and then onto the southbound A759 will join the southbound A78 following Warrix Interchange. Automobiles will proceed via the A759 to the B746 Kilmarnock Road in Barassie, after which they will travel via Beach Road, North Shore Road, and Port Ranald Drive.
Traffic will proceed from this point to the A79 Junction via Harbour Road, the B749 Templehill, Troon Cross, Ayr Street, South Beach, Craigend Road, and finally Monktonhill Road. At Monktonhead Roundabout, cars will be able to re-join the A78 at this point.
