Road closed after driver dies in crash in Ayrshire

In the third fatal collision on an Ayrshire road this week, a man has perished.

Following a fatal collision on the A713 Ayr to Castle Douglas road close to the intersection with the B742, Coylton to Dalrymple road, Police Scotland is requesting witnesses.

On Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., a black Tesla Model 3, a black Vauxhall Agila, and a grey Audi Q4 were involved in an accident.

After being transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the 49-year-old Tesla driver passed away. His family has been notified.

After receiving care at Ayr Hospital, the Audi’s female driver was released.

There was no need for medical attention for the Vauxhall’s female passenger or male driver.

“At this trying time, our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends,” said Road Policing Unit Police Sergeant Gordon Stewart.

“We’re still looking into this, so if you saw the crash or have dashcam footage and haven’t talked to the police yet, please get in touch with us right away. Our investigations are ongoing.

On Friday, around two in the morning, the road reopened. I would like to express my gratitude to the public for their patience while we looked into this very serious crash.

Call Police Scotland at 101 and reference incident number 2461 of Thursday, if you have any information.

The third fatal crash in Ayrshire this week alone occurred yesterday.

Additionally, a 43-year-old man perished in a fatal crash that occurred on Monday on the A76, just south of the B713 Catrine intersection.
