A guy from Barnsley who was a frequent shoplifter was given a maximum-length Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and was taken to prison.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, Jamie Wilks, 21, of Wood View, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court and entered a guilty plea to fifteen shoplifting offences and one CBO violation.
Wilks was given a sentence of fifteen months in prison and an additional seven-year community bond, with the new provision that he cannot enter any retail establishment with anything covering his face or head.
Wilks had already been given a CBO. In January 2024, after being released from jail, he committed another crime: theft at several locations in the Hoyland region.
When dealing with individuals who repeatedly engage in anti-social behaviour or low-level crimes, officers have the option of using a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
In an emergency, anyone who sees Wilks violating the conditions of his CBO should call South Yorkshire Police at 101 or 999.
