Dajaune Brown question answered, Dwight Gayle and Martyn Waghorn boos’

Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live brings you what the Rams head coach had to say at his press conference this afternoon

Derby County face Charlton Athletic tomorrow night as they look to bounce back in style following their defeat to Barnsley at the weekend.

Paul Warne’s side lost 2-1 at Oakwell, but results elsewhere were kind with the Rams still second in the table as they look to return to the Championship.

Warne had his pre-match news conference at Moor Farm this afternoon in advance of the Addicks game tomorrow night. Dajaune Brown, Martyn Waghorn, and Dwight Gayle were among the topics of discussion.

In order to support Derby County’s promotion campaign, Paul Warne claims he hasn’t given any thought to calling up Dajaune Brown from his loan spell at Gateshead.

In January, Brown signed a youth loan with the National League team that would last until the conclusion of the season. He has played extensively off the bench but has not yet made a start. Dwight Gayle was added by Derby to help make up for James Collins’ absence, who will be sidelined for the next eight weeks.

Furthermore, when asked if calling up Brown was an option, Martyn Waghorn responded, “No, not really,” given that he is anticipated to play some role against Charlton tomorrow.

For him, it would be too much. To lead our frontline from there is a significant step. I simply believe Nat has a superior knowledge, with all due respect to Daj.

“I just believe that Mendez-Laing, along with Tom Barkhuizen, has more to offer, to be fair, if the opposition saw the team sheet with Brown up top or Mendez-Laing. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s fair to put the child in that.”

Waghorn might initiate

Martyn Waghorn, the Rams striker, is expected to make his comeback from injury tomorrow night, according to Paul Warne, and might start for Derby County.

Waghorn, who hasn’t played since before Christmas due to a calf issue, returned to the pitch last week but wasn’t put in danger during Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Barnsley. When asked if Waghorn would be able to start tomorrow night against Nathan Jones’s team, Warne responded that he hasn’t ruled it out.

When asked if he was ready to start, Derby’s head coach responded, “If you ask him, he is.” In my opinion, despite his extensive rehabilitation, he still has a chance to be hurt in the first minute of play or play every minute of the season and not sustain an injury.

Once more, it’s a really tough one that you don’t want to give him too much attention. However, considering how much training he’s done and the fact that it was a friendly versus Mickleover, would I be concerned about staring him if this were pre-season now? I wouldn’t, though, as he needs to play games.

“Anyone could lose it at any time, but he could too. He’s in contention to start, but is he match fit as in 100 per cent on the money? No.

However, until they’re starting every week, nobody is. And that may be the reason you’re witnessing an improved aspect of Sonny Bradley’s performances—after a few more games, his polish seems to have come off. Waggy, Dwight Gayle, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Tom Barkhuizen, and Louie Sibley are all available for selection, so we have some excellent choices.”
