3 candidates Barrow must consider

Barrow are in the hunt for a new manager following Pete Wild’s exit at the end of last week, as confirmed by their official club website.

Barrow have a significant decision to make on who to bring in next as they prepare for another year in League Two. They ended in 8th position in the past campaign and were only a point from the play-offs.

The 39-year-old Wild came to the Bluebirds from FC Halifax Town in the National League in 2022, and he won 37.14% of the games he managed at Holker Street. He had formerly employed at Oldham Athletic as well.

Three candidates that the Cumbrian outfit should take into consideration while weighing their alternatives are shown below.

Dean Holden

If Barrow could secure the services of the Mancunian, who has coaching experience in the Football League, it would be a wise appointment. He was fired by Charlton Athletic in August of last year, and he may consider this opening as a chance to regain his position as the top player in the league.

Before joining the Addicks in 2022, he had stints as a coach with Oldham Athletic, Bristol City, and Stoke City. Holden is presently employed with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia as Steven Gerrard’s backup.

Gary Bowyer

Bowyer is a fourth-tier player that the Bluebirds could consider. He has experience with teams like Bradford City, Salford City, and Blackpool. The former full-back for Rotherham United is available right now, as he has been since leaving Dundee in the summer.

Before leaving, he led his former club to promotion from the Scottish Championship the previous season. The 52-year-old was also won Manager of the Year before departing alongside his assistant Billy Barr.
