Barrow AFC is pleased to announce that Defender, Rory Feely has signed a new one-year contract with the club with an option for a further year.
The Irish defender originally joined the Bluebirds in January 2023 from Bohemian FC, and he went on to make 43 appearances in the next 18 months at the SO Legal Stadium.
Particularly in the second half of the 2023/2024 season, Feely formed a formidable partnership in the Barrow defence which ultimately saw the Bluebirds rank among one of the tightest defences in the division.
Feely also bagged his first Barrow goal in April when he headed home a fine cross away at Doncaster Rovers. However, what fans will arguably remember Rory the most for is his trademark long throw which strikes fear into any opposing team who concedes a throw-in near their own goal.
The Irish defender expressed his excitement about his new contract, saying, “I’m looking forward to another positive year at Holker Street. I really enjoyed my last 18 months here. I’m very excited to be here again.”
“I can’t wait to get back in and push on from last season and go one better because we have a really tight group here.”
“While the summer transfer window has developed, it became clear to us that Rory still had something unique to offer the squad,” stated Iain Wood, Sporting Director. Thus, I’m happy to see him stick around and improve under Stephen [Clemence] and the new look group.
