The 37-year-oldĀ Sam Foley has played 92 games in all competitions and contributed to 12 goals since joining the club in 2022 following the expiration of his contract at Tranmere.
Last season, he scored four goals and notched five assists in his 48 appearances for the club.
The hardworking and versatile midfielder has a wealth of experience at EFL level having notched an impressive 403 appearances in his extensive career through spells at Newport County, Yeovil Town, Port Vale and Northampton.
Among his major accomplishments are his 2013 promotion to the Championship with Yeovil, his two seasons as St. Mirren’s player of the year in the Scottish Premiership between 2019 and 2021, and his youth international representation for the Republic of Ireland.
With the new one-year contract, manager Stephen Clemence will have the chance to use a technically skilled player he can rely on at this level.
Sporting Director of Barrow AFC, Iain Wood, made the following statement about Sam’s new contract: “Last season, Sam clearly demonstrated the immense value he brings to the squad.”
“He still has a strong desire to play and contribute significantly to the team, and the younger players greatly benefit from his vast experience.”
Three new players have already been added to Clemence’s roster when the transfer window closes in 63 days.
After Katie Kouyate’s contract with Everton expired earlier this month, Clemence signed the youthful and versatile 20-year-old forward on a three-year contract, making him his first summer signing.
After spending the previous season on loan at Gillingham and contributing 13 goals, Connor Mahoney signed a two-year contract from Huddersfield.
After his contract at Blackburn Rovers expired, defender Sam Barnes signed a one-year initial contract, being the final player before Foley to do so.
