Liverpool is actively searching for someone to succeed Jurgen Klopp, who proved to be an impossible task.
The fact that Klopp told the Reds in November that he was moving on has given them plenty of time to locate the ideal player. Many names have been mentioned thus far, some of them unexpected and some considerably less so.
Xabi Alonso is among those who strongly belongs to the latter group. At Bayer Leverkusen, the former midfield player for Liverpool has been doing admirably since his hiring in October 2022.
Alonso has been performing so well that he has now achieved a really amazing new record.
Football analysis website Squawka confirms on X that Alonso’s Leverkusen have now gone 29 games without a loss. That covers the entire season, and it’s also the longest winning run in the team’s history. Outstanding.
Furthermore, Leverkusen has now closed the gap to just three goals from the all-time German club record, which is held by none other than Bayern Munich. That’s exceptional for a first-time manager. Liverpool, sign him up!
As far as we can gather, Alonso’s lack of experience is the main justification for not being appointed to the Liverpool position.
There is a belief that, although achievement is undoubtedly admirable, a coach’s true character is only revealed when he has faced some difficult circumstances.
