Report: head coach sees red after clash with Bayern

In a confrontation on the sidelines, Bjelica seemed to push the former Manchester City winger twice.

Nenad Bjelica, the head coach of Union Berlin, was shown red after pushing Leroy Sane in the face during Bayern Munich’s thrilling 1-0 Bundesliga victory.

Raphael Guerreiro gave Bayern the lead early in the second half, and Bjelica then seemed to push the former Manchester City winger twice in a sideline altercation.

Bayern recovered from their loss to Werder Bremen the previous weekend, taking them to within four points of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen with the close victory.

Eric Dier, Harry Kane’s teammate from England, made his Bayern debut as a halftime substitute. Harry Kane’s attempt was rejected for offside.

The Williams brothers of Athletic Bilbao both scored in extra time, and Barcelona lost 4-2 in their quarterfinal Copa del Rey match at the San Mames, suffering further Copa del Rey suffering.

At the end of the first extra period, Inaki came off the bench to give the home team the lead. Nico, who is 21 years old and eight years his junior, then scored the game’s final goal.

History was repeated when Inaki Williams responded masterfully to a tremendous stroke of luck by converting his own shot that rebounded off a post. The Catalans had lost their last two trips to the competition in 2020 and 2022.

Gorka Guruzeta gave them the lead after just 36 seconds, shocking Barca, and it was all they deserved.

The visitors turned things around with goals from Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal in a six-minute spell midway through the first half but they never looked comfortable and Oihan Sanchet’s equaliser – from a sublime Nico Williams cross – just after the interval paved the way for former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde’s side to win the game over 120 minutes.

Girona, the leaders of La Liga, lost 3-2 to 10-man Real Mallorca, resulting in their elimination as well.

Cyle Larin and two goals from Abdon Prats—one a spectacular shot and the other a penalty—saw the hosts score three goals in the first half.

Midway through the second half, Girona equalized through a penalty kick scored by Cristhian Stuani after the sent-off Antonio Raillo fouled him. Savio’s finish in the sixth minute of stoppage time further reduced the deficit, but a late goal proved to be unachievable.
