Beith group lands £22,000 funding to provide a safe hub for the community
The Garnock Valley Locality Partnership, who presented the application during a Cabinet meeting in January 2024, was solely responsible for the windfall.
In addition to providing a lively centre of activities that anybody can participate in, the community organisation has constructed a reasonably priced community café that is open Wednesday through Sunday and is well-liked by the inhabitants.
Together with the current development worker, a new post holder will be hired using the CIF cash in order to expand the community hub’s capacities and look into outside financing sources.
James Robson, from Beith Community Association SCIO, said: “Thank you to the Garnock Valley Locality Partnership, who have helped us to receive this incredible funding win from North Ayrshire Council.
“We want to use the money to build a hub that will offer more services and events, bringing the community together in a friendly, stigma-free environment where residents may grow in self-assurance, make new friends, and reach their full potential.
“Having the extra hands-on deck supporting us is going to help us take our community hub to the next level.”
“We appreciate the Garnock Valley Locality Partnership’s support of the idea and utilisation of their knowledge to assist this significant community organisation.
This is an excellent illustration of a priceless community asset that advances the Garnock Valley’s Locality Priorities of building infrastructure and amenities, fostering social isolation reduction through accessible places creation, and developing the talents and abilities of community members.
“I hope to see Beith’s community hub, which is a great resource for the locals, grow even more in 2024.”
The council’s Community Investment Fund is all about community empowerment in action, and your community group or association can benefit too. Speak to your locality officer to find out more about how to apply.
