A murder investigation is under way after a woman was found dead with a number of stab wounds in her home in Westminster, the Metropolitan Police has said.
On Monday, after breaking into the house in Stanhope Place, Bayswater, police discovered the woman dead from several stab wounds.
Scotland Yard said that a post-mortem examination will take place soon and that it is now tracing and notifying the woman’s next of kin.
Leading the inquiry is Detective Chief Inspector Adam Clifton of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. He stated: “I know this news will be concerning, and that local women especially may be worried.”
“Although we are still conducting preliminary investigation and remain open-minded on the motive, I can reassure everyone that my team is working around the clock to determine the woman’s fate and to find and apprehend any potential attackers.
“Our thoughts are with the woman and her family,” said Westminster’s chief superintendent Louise Puddefoot. My officers will be stationed in the area to speak with anyone who has any information or concerns they would like to share with us, and we will do all in our power to support the investigation.
