A traffic accident on Beith Road has resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man from Silkstone.
The crash, which involved two vehicles, occurred on Monday, August 19, just after 9pm.
According to initial reports, the incident took place when a Chrysler station wagon, driven by the Silkstone man, collided head-on with a Dodge Ram utility travelling in the opposite direction near Pub Lane.
The driver of the Chrysler sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries today August 20.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 56-year-old man from Springfield Lakes, and his 14-year-old passenger, both suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
