Birmingham City is on the verge of pulling off a “huge coup” prior to the transfer deadline#

The most recent information on Championship transfers as Birmingham City approaches a potential “huge coup” from Sunderland.

Alex Pritchard, a midfield player for Sunderland, is reportedly nearing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Birmingham City.

The 30-year-old’s future with the Black Cats has been in doubt for a few weeks, and last week he made headlines by refusing to play against Stoke City. With the exciting project taking place at St Andrew’s Stadium, former Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has now swept in for a reunion with the playmaker, providing a path out.

According to Sunderland Nation, Pritchard has reached an agreement to remain at Birmingham through June 2027. As part of the deal, he will receive a “significant pay rise”. Presumably, all that’s left is for the two teams to agree on £100,000 in compensation, since Pritchard has six months left on his Stadium of Light contract.

Before the transfer deadline, Birmingham will pull off a major coup, if the report is accurate. Pritchard joined Sunderland from Huddersfield Town in 2021 and has since become an important member of the team. Success has been abundant, as evidenced by the team’s promotion to the Championship and subsequent play-off qualification the following season.

Having begun his career at Tottenham Hotspur, Pritchard has made 359 appearances overall and totaled 48 goals and 66 assists. The former England Under-21 international, who is primarily a number 10 but can also play anywhere in midfield or even attack, will probably help Blues move up the table if they can pull this off.
