The most recent Birmingham City news, as reported by BirminghamLive, mentions Jesse Lingard possibly moving to Saudi Arabia.
Jesse Lingard, a former Birmingham City loanee, has teamed up with Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia.
Lingard, who memorably scored four goals against Sheffield Wednesday on his Blues debut, has begun working out with Al Ettifaq in an effort to land a contract. Former Aston Villa manager Gerrard currently oversees Al Ettifaq, which Demarai Gray, a former Blues winger, joined from Everton in the summer.
Lingard was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia last year when he left Manchester United, but he ended up joining newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest. After just 17 Premier League appearances for Forest last term, Lingard was released at the end of his contract.
The 30-year-old has spent time training with West Ham, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in 2020/21, but a stint in Saudi Arabia now appears to be on the cards.
David Moyes, the manager of the Irons, expressed his comfort and relaxation with Lingard’s choice to leave West Ham early for Saudi Arabia and forgo the remainder of his training assignment there. I believe I’ve been saying that we need to wait and see what he does and how he acts.
While at United, Lingard played on loan for five different teams, including Blues. In 13 starts for Blues in the Championship, Lingard scored six goals.
