Rob Edwards, the manager of Luton Town, made us all feel ancient as the son of an ex-Birmingham City player made his Liverpool debut on Wednesday night.
Last night against Luton Town, the son of former Birmingham City midfielder Neil Danns made his Premier League debut for Liverpool.
Jayden Danns contributed to Harvey Elliott’s fourth goal in stoppage time as a late substitution in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Luton. Despite only turning 18 in January, he was called up to Liverpool’s first team to help with their injured forward line, which included Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota.
Only in 2021 did his father, Neil Danns, call it quits on his career, having played for 14 clubs, including Blues, during nearly two decades. In the summer of 2006, Dann senior moved to Blues from Colchester United. He played in 39 games before moving to Crystal Palace eighteen months later. He played in just five Premier League games for Blackburn Rovers and Blues combined.
Danns senior’s 41-year-old manager from Luton, Rob Edwards, faced off against him in their playing days. And he brought up that argument at half time in a discussion with Danns junior and his Liverpool opponent, Jurgen Klopp.
