A meeting with a prospective new signing was pencilled into Tony Mowbray’s diary on Thursday afternoon with Birmingham City ‘getting closer’ to their first January deal.
Blues have been eerily quiet in the window to date, largely due to the change of manager, but Mowbray says the club’s recruitment drive is gathering pace.id QPR mfielder Andre Dozzell is believed to be of interest and the first signing of Mowbray’s tenure might not be far away.
“I think we are getting closer,” Mowbray told BirminghamLive. “There’s been a lot of recruitment stuff going on. We have to do this, then I’ve got something else to do. Part of something else I’ve got to do is recruitment and the potential of talking to a player that we are potentially thinking about signing.”
Mowbray emphasised on the word potential for a reason. The manager won’t sign the player unless he feels his passion and enthusiasm during that meeting.
