Wayne Rooney has lost nine of his 15 matches in charge of Birmingham City since succeeding John Eustace in October
Birmingham City are expected to call time on Wayne Rooney’s tenure as manager today.
The former Manchester United and England captain has endured a miserable 15-game spell in charge of Blues since succeeding John Eustace at St Andrew’s in October. Blues have lost nine of their 15 matches under Rooney, taking just 10 points from a possible 45.
According to The Mirror, Rooney has been relieved of his duties by owners Knighthead. The final straw came at Elland Road on New Year’s day when Blues were defeated 3-0 by Leeds United.
Supporters called for Rooney’s head in the second half of the defeat to Leeds and Knighthead have acted. Blues have dropped from sixth to 20th in the Championship on Rooney’s watch.
Rooney arrived to fanfare back in October, tasked with delivering a new brand of ‘no fear football’ by the club’s owners. But Blues have deteriorated badly on the pitch and Rooney has paid the price.
