A serious collision in Birmingham this morning has resulted in the tragic death of one man and the injuries of two more. When the incident occurred, drivers were advised to “avoid the area” on the A45 Coventry Road.
The crash occurred close to the Berkeley Road intersection in Yardley, where police tents are erected today, Friday, July 26. Following the 6 a.m. incident, buses have also been rerouted away from the location.
Birmingham Police took to X and shared the following: “We’re currently handling a serious collision on Coventry Road, close to the intersection of Berkeley Road, Yardley. Kindly stay as far away from the area as you can.”
NX West Midlands issued the following statement: “Services 60, X1 & X2 are diverting in both directions via Heybarnes Road, Hob Moor Road, Wash Lane, Holder Road due to an incident on A45 Coventry Road near Heybarnes Circus.” We regret causing you any inconvenience on your travels.”

BirminghamLive was informed by a store owner at GoLocalExtra, a 24-hour newsstand, that “two ambulances and the fire service were here earlier.”
“We believe it occurred around six in the morning, but I wasn’t present—I just arrived.”
