Five players that Rovers could potentially target in January.
In 2023/24, Blackburn Rovers have been hit-or-miss in the Championship.
So far this season, the club’s supporters have either gone home delighted with a win or frustrated with a defeat on a Saturday evening.
Of course, the January transfer window is only around the corner, giving Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team the opportunity to improve their squad and possibly turn some failures into victory.
The club brought in seven new players over the summer, but there is a sense that Ewood Park requires more quality and depth in some areas.
Indeed, bringing players in next month could aid the club’s challenge for a play-off spot.
Nesta Guinness-Walker
With that said, here are five players the team might pursue who could be available for a reasonable price during the January transfer window.
Nesta Guinness-Walker is one name that Blackburn Rovers could pursue during the January transfer window.
The club only has one natural left-back in Harry Pickering, so more competition and depth in the position would be very appreciated.
There were initial ties between Blackburn and the midfielder in the summer, and Rovers could pursue him again next month.
Given Reading’s current financial and ownership circumstances, a transaction may be on the table.

Connor O’Riordan
Crewe Alexandra defender Connor O’Riordan is another player who could be available for a reasonable fee.
The teenage central defender is being watched by those at Ewood Park, according to Andy Dunn in The Mirror’s transfer blog (15/12, 10:28 am).
The 20-year-old has made 17 appearances in League Two this season and is under contract with Crewe until 2025.
A £500,000 price tag has been stated, which Rovers might easily exploit.
Al-Hamadi, Ali
Whilst on the topic of players already linked with Blackburn ahead of the January window, we have to mention Ali Al-Hamadi.
Although competition for the AFC Wimbledon man is fierce, Rovers are one of the sides keen, and would surely love to complete a deal.
Sammie Szmodics has taken on a lot of the goal-scoring duties this season, and adding a forward like Al-Hamadi should help.
The 21-year-old has 13 goals and six assists in all competitions so far this season and is looking a very bright talent.
Devante Cole
If Rovers believe the step up from League Two to the Championship is too great, they could look for a League One goalscorer instead.
For example, Devante Cole is a name that comes to mind.
A guy like Cole, like Al-Hamadi, may relieve Szmodics’ goal-scoring responsibility, and the player could perhaps be available as well.
Cole’s contract at Oakwell expires next summer, therefore Barnsley may be eager to cash in while they still can.
Cole has 12 goals and two assists in 20 League One appearances so far this campaign.
Last but not least, a Championship forward – Watford’s Rhys Healey – might be considered.
Healey has received little attention since joining Vicarage Road in the summer, with news of his arrival and Valerien Ismael’s entrance arriving almost simultaneously.
Given his lack of engagement, it’s possible that Ismael didn’t initiate or want the deal, and there’s a good probability he’ll leave Vicarage Road in January.
Healey had previously demonstrated a consistent ability to hit the net in France and the EFL, and while Watford will not want to strengthen a potential play-off contender, the money received for Healey might aid their push elsewhere.
The 28-year-old clearly requires a change of scenery, and Blackburn may be able to provide it.
