Following Ipswich Town’s January bids, Blackburn Rovers are prepared to sign Sam Gallagher’s contract extension option, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon post.
Striker Gallagher attracted a lot of interest for Blackburn Rovers during the January transfer window. The winter search of another alternative up top by Championship rivals Ipswich Town saw bids refused, and in the end, the former Southampton player stayed at Ewood Park.
This season’s finish still marks the expiration of his contract. Nonetheless, the inclusion of a 12-month extension clause has been extensively reported.
Now that the transfer window has closed, Blackburn Rovers are prepared to exercise Gallagher’s contract option. Reporter Alan Nixon claims in a post on Patreon that the Lancashire organisation will take action to keep the 28-year-old’s contract active after the campaign ends.
Rovers will then have the option of selling Gallagher in the summer or attempting to extend his contract further.
ONE OF 20
Following an extended period of time away due to injury, Gallagher is keen to prove that he still has a lot to offer Blackburn Rovers. Although he didn’t have the most impressive Championship goal total, he will be eager to get back on track after scoring against QPR over the weekend.
Rovers ended up losing 2-1 and dropping to 18th place in the table, five points above relegation, despite his best efforts. The team led by Jon Dahl Tomasson is without a win in eight league games, and their off-field issues appear to be getting worse.
Additionally, Gallagher might have a larger influence than initially believed. There appears to be an issue with the delayed Duncan McGuire transfer, as reports indicate that Blackburn Rovers made another paperwork error.
Should his decision not be approved, Gallagher may find himself playing a bigger part in the remaining days of the season.
