Burnley lose ex-Preston North End man as rivals Blackburn Rovers completed double swoop deal

This is a summary of the Championship’s transfer news for Saturday.

Talk about Burnley leaving for Brownhill
Over the past few seasons, the Clarets have benefited greatly from the ability of the former Preston North End star. The 29-year-old’s contract at Turf Moor expires in the summer, and West Ham United is apparently considering bids from clubs abroad. In 193 games for Burnley, Brownhill has scored 23 goals and provided 20 assists. In an interview with BBC Radio Lancashire back in October, he talked about his future.

Leeds forward Joe Gelhardt is reportedly being considered for a loan move by the Hatters, who will visit PNE in the Championship next weekend. The 22-year-old may potentially leave Elland Road this month after being linked to the Lilywhites numerous times in the past. The former Wigan Athletic player hasn’t played much for Daniel Farke’s team, and Hull City, Stoke City, and League One promotion contenders Wrexham have reportedly expressed interest in him.

John Eustace’s team now includes two new players from Preston North End’s Lancashire rivals. Dion Sanderson, a defender for Birmingham City, rejoins the Rovers manager after working with him at the Blues. He signed a loan deal with the Ewood Park team for the end of the current campaign. Adam Forshaw, an experienced midfielder, has also joined Blackburn on a temporary basis following the termination of his contract with Plymouth Argyle. Following Lewis Baker’s return by parent club Stoke City, Forshaw steps in to cover the void.

According to reports, Andrew Hughes, a defender for Preston North End, has agreed to a new deal with the Lilywhites. The Welshman will remain with PNE for an eighth season even though his contract was supposed to end in the summer. Since joining North End in the summer of 2018, Hughes has made 241 appearances for the team, 26 of which have come this season.
