Three clubs plot move for Blackburn Rovers man confirm deal

As Arnor Sigurdsson approaches the last few months of his Blackburn Rovers contract, several foreign clubs are showing interest in signing him.

Despite several clubs showing interest, FotballSkanalen predicts the playmaker will stay with the Championship team after this season.

Sigurdsson joined for the Lancashire outfit in the summer of 2023, arriving on an initial loan agreement before turning it to a permanent move in December of that year.

With just five league appearances in John Eustace’s team this season, the 25-year-old has suffered from injury concerns during his tenure at Ewood Park.

Arnor Sigurdsson transfer latest

Sigurdsson is garnering interest from three clubs from Sweden, and could sign a pre-contract agreement due to his expiring tenure with Blackburn.

It has been suggested that Djurgården, IFK Norrköping and Malmö FF are all considering a potential deal for the Iceland international.

Nonetheless, there is hope that he will stay with Rovers after this season.

Despite interest in returning to Scandinavia, it is expected that Sigurdsson will stay at Ewood Park. All three clubs have reportedly asked about his availability, with the player free to discuss terms with European sides because he only has six months left on his contract. It is thought that Sigurdsson is keeping his options open in case he decides to leave Blackburn at the end of the season, with nothing yet agreed upon with the English club.

Sigurdsson’s importance to Blackburn

Since taking over as manager in February of last year, Sigurdsson has been unable to contribute more to Eustace’s team due to injuries.

With the side vying for promotion to the Premier League, he has only made five league appearances this season.

Blackburn defeated Portsmouth 3-0 in the middle of the week, moving up to fifth place in the rankings.

Rovers’ next game is a trip to Oxford United, which kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Blackburn have Sigurdsson situation under control

Sigurdsson has endured a tough second season with Blackburn, but he is still only 25 and has time on his side to turn things back around.

He was a promising part of the team last year, scoring five times from 29 appearances in the Championship.

Keeping him around for at least another season would make sense for the Championship side, and it appears that the club have this situation under control.

However, until he signs on the dotted line on a new deal, there is still every chance that he leaves.
