Sam Gallagher may be leaving Blackburn Rovers this summer, and it’s possible that a few more players will follow him out of Ewood Park.
In January, the forward was linked to a move to Ipswich Town, and Blackburn rejected a bid of £2 million for the striker. They were purportedly willing to negotiate, but they soon concluded that it would be best to maintain Gallagher in the team, thus they refused to sell him before the window closed.
In the summer, there will probably be more interest, and given his contract position, Blackburn may need to make a decision. The forward signed a two-year contract extension with Rovers in 2022, with the club holding a third-year option. This means he may leave as a free agent this summer.
The Championship team is unlikely to let that happen and will undoubtedly initiate the extension if they are unable to come to new terms, but considering the previous interest in him, a summer departure is not out of the question.
Here are two players who might leave Ewood Park with Gallagher: he’s not the only one who might be leaving.
Tyrhys Dolan, 22, was apparently the target of Premier League team Luton Town’s interest in January, so it would not be shocking if they renewed that interest in the summer.
In 2020, Dolan made his team debut. During his first season, he appeared in 37 league games.
