Blackburn Rovers agree deal for 23-year-old star

Blackburn Rovers would be signing Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo on loan as they weigh up their wide targets, according to the Daily Record.

After a rush of transfer action in the run-up to the new season, Blackburn Rovers still seem to be in the market for fresh players.
It has enabled them to launch the campaign successfully. They started the season with a resounding victory over Derby County at home, and they rallied to draw Norwich City away from home the previous time.

After barely avoiding relegation on the penultimate day of play, John Eustace will be hopeful his Rovers team can move up the Championship table with the aid of a few more acquisitions.

Strange reports that Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo was “destined” to sign with Blackburn Rovers suddenly surfaced, and new allegations regarding the situation have since surfaced.

Welsh speedster Matondo is “one of a number” of wingers being evaluated at Ewood Park, according to a recent Daily Record story.

Crucially, the player would only be joining on loan from FC Schalke and Manchester City, and his parent team Rangers would need to contribute “a significant part” of his salary.

In order to free up salary, the Scottish team is eager to let him go, and Blackburn Rovers is one possible destination.

Extra wide threat

A deal for Matondo would bring some additional wide threat to Eustace’s Blackburn Rovers ranks.

His best asset is his speed, leaving defenders for dead with his quick turn of pace and fast feet. He’s happy to attack the byline or cut inside onto his stronger right foot when operating on the left, as he often does.

A return of six goals and 10 assists in 63 games for Rangers is a respectable return for the 23-year-old. Matondo has also found joy in Belgium before, managing 10 goals and two assists in 27 outings while on loan at Cercle Brugge.
