Young prospect Leo Duru may also go on loan from Blackburn Rovers, and John Eustace has been backed to bring another winger to the team during the January transfer window.
From the outside, it doesn’t seem like Eustace will need to add players to his team immediately once the year ends.
The reason for this is that Blackburn has been a bit of a surprise in the Championship. They have had a successful start to the season and have managed to deal without the loss of star forward Sammie Szmodics, who ended the previous campaign as the division’s top scorer with 28 goals.
Eustace is currently in seventh place in the league standings.
Even though Blackburn has lost four of their last six games, they are still only two points out of the playoffs, and they will be fighting to stay in this position for the rest of the season.
John Eustace urged to sign another winger at Blackburn Rovers
A school of thinking holds that Blackburn still lacks speed from wide areas, despite the fact that both Todd Cantwell and Amario Cozier-Duberry were signed in the summer. They seem determined to fix this issue before the window opens.
Kwame Poku, the standout winger for Peterborough United, is the most recent player to be connected to Ewood Park; Martial Godo and Augustus Kargbo have also been suggested as possible targets.
Toby Wilding, a resident Blackburn fan pundit, was asked to forecast two possible transfer scenarios that could actually occur at the club in January. He thinks the first one entails the arrival of at least one more winger.
Toby told Football League World, “First off, I would expect a winger to be signed, at least one.”
“There are already a lot of players being linked to Rovers, including Augustus Kargbo, Martial Godo, who appeared to be on the verge of joining on loan from Fulham on deadline day, and more recently, Kwame Poku. It appears that Blackburn is trying to bolster that position, which makes sense.
Leo Duru tipped for Blackburn Rovers loan exit
All things considered, Toby is looking forward to a relatively quiet winter window for Rovers, who brought in a number of new players throughout the summer while clearing off some space.
Therefore, Toby isn’t anticipating a lot of activity in terms of possible departures, even though he believes that Leo Duru, a highly regarded young player, might leave the team on loan.
The 19-year-old made his professional debut in August when his team crushed Stockport County 6-1 in the EFL Cup first round. Since then, he has earned two more first-team appearances, but it appears that Callum Brittain and Joe Rankin-Costello are blocking his path.
The young right-back Leo Duru going on loan is the second scenario I may anticipate,” Toby continued.
“Callum Brittain is obviously returning for that role currently, and Joe Rankin-Costello must be a contender to play in that capacity going ahead based on his recent performances.
Given that Drury has only made three senior appearances so far this season, it would make sense for him to go out on loan and acquire some additional playing time. It certainly seems like a reasonable thing for him to do at the age of 19.
