Blackburn Rovers brought three really top, experienced players

Players that have been there, done that, and earned the t-shirt are invaluable to a young team, especially in the Sky Bet Championship.

Having played and managed in one of Europe’s most exciting and turbulent divisions for the duration of his playing career, John Eustace is used to the competitive and frequently unexpected nature of the second tier.

In his more than 300 appearances as a player, the Rovers manager represented teams such Coventry City, Stoke City, Watford, and Derby County. The league begins on Friday night at Ewood Park against the Rams.

In a hectic week, Kyle McFadzean, Danny Batth, and Andi Weimann joined Ewood Park, succeeding Makhtar Gueye and Yuki Ohashi, who are both new to English football and stand in sharp contrast to their three new teammates!

Batth has made 316 appearances in Championship games during his career, McFadzean’s upcoming league game will be his 250th appearance in the second division, and the newest addition, Weimann, who teamed up with Eustace at Watford, has made 335 appearances in Championship competition.

Eustace told RoversTV, “I think the three boys that we’ve brought in, they all know this level inside and out.”
They aren’t always here to play every single week. They are here to support this very gifted bunch of athletes.

“The Championship doesn’t let up. You could tell that when Fadz [McFadzean] joined the team the previous year, he significantly improved us.

“He improved us tremendously and got better performances from Hayden Carter and Dom Hyam.”

“We’ve brought in three extremely great, experienced players to assist achieve that. That’s the purpose of veteran players coming in: to support the group and make sure the dressing room functions smoothly.

“A senior player’s role is to make sure the training ground and dressing room are operating efficiently, not to play every week,” the 44-year-old continued.

“I’ve told them to do that because that’s their job, and I know that when they play, they won’t let the team down either.

“We’ll monitor them all over the next week or so and see if they’ll be available in the upcoming games, but it’s important we don’t rush them.”
