John Eustace, the manager of Blackburn Rovers, has not had an easy season thus far in his two roles, and as time goes on at Ewood Park, he may have even more to worry about.
He was fired by Birmingham City in October of last year, even though the team was in the play-offs. When he was appointed manager of Blackburn in February 2024, he had to turn things around at Ewood Park right away. His task was to lead Blackburn, who were positioned just above the relegation zone, as high up the table as possible and away from the drop.
They are not too good to be dragged into a relegation battle, even if they are presently four points ahead of Stoke City, who are in 22nd place in the table, especially after Adam Wharton left for Crystal Palace at the beginning of February in a £22 million move.
Despite the fact that less goals are being leaked, Eustace is still seeking his first victory as Rovers manager after three draws and a loss in his first four games in charge.
Considering that he committed to the team in February for a two-and-a-half-year contract, it is evident that Eustace is a long-term solution for Ewood Park and not a temporary one.
To maintain momentum and produce outcomes, he must retain the club’s best players.
Tyrhys Dolan, who appears to be leaving Ewood Park despite being a vital member of the team for the previous four seasons, might run into problems because of this.
Dolan was linked with a move to Luton Town in January
Dolan, 22, was rumoured to be interested in a last-minute move to the Premier League at the close of the transfer window, with newly promoted Luton Town.
Before Eustace was named manager, there were rumours of the deal, thus he was spared from having to decide whether to sell or retain the former Preston North End winger.
However, if Luton can stay in the Premier League after this season, Dolan will probably find it difficult to decline the transfer when interest rekindles in the summer.
