Set to be named new Blackburn Rovers manager*

Jon Dahl Tomasson will be replaced as manager of Blackburn Rovers by John Eustace.

After departing St Andrew’s in October, the former manager of Birmingham City is expected to resume his duties. When Stoke City visits Ewood Park on Saturday, he might be in command there. If not, the team will probably be led by David Lowe or Damien Johnson.

The following Tuesday night, Eustace should lead Rovers against his old team in two crucial games for the Rovers’ season. With Birmingham and Stoke between them from the bottom three, the team is five points above the relegation zone.

When the 44-year-old arrives, the club will formally announce Tomasson’s departure. Although the departure is perhaps best described as mutual accord, it is believed that the Dane resigned.

Although there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet, on Friday there should be a statement at the very least confirming Tomasson’s departure.

Tomasson’s three-year deal, which he signed in 2022, had sixteen months remaining. It was no longer possible for the board and the former AC Milan striker to continue their connection.

Following the conclusion of the January transfer window on Friday, the club prevented Tomasson from interacting with the media. Following the team’s 2-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, the head coach of the Rovers had an intense post-match press conference.

The last straw for Tomasson was thought to have been his frustrations with the January transfer window and, specifically, his disappointment with Duncan McGuire’s unsuccessful registration. Since the club’s ‘hand grenade’ incident in the summer, when the budget was slashed because of Venky’s issues in India, the connection has been shattered.

Things had gotten bad on the pitch as well. With one victory in their previous 11 Championship games, Rovers has taken five points out of a potential thirty-three. Considering that they were seventh on December 1st, their season has unravelled swiftly, and they are currently facing relegation.
