Ex-Huddersfield Town striker excited as he completes move to Blackpool

Former Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes admits “it feels really good” to have turned his loan stay at Blackpool into a permanent move.

The 34-year-old spent last season on loan with the Tangerines, and has now joined the fellow League One outfit on a 12-month contract following his release from the Terriers, with the move becoming official upon the expiry of his contract with Town.

The forward got his loan spell with the Seasiders off to a blistering start, netting 15 goals by Christmas. However, injuries prevented him from adding to that tally in the second half of the season, leaving the striker delighted to have secured a second opportunity at Bloomfield Road to pick up where he left off in the first part of the campaign.

Rhodes said on the website of his new team, “It feels really good, and I’m very thankful to the manager, the chairman, David Downes (sporting director), for getting me to this point.”

“I consider myself quite fortunate to have succeeded in obtaining another opportunity to try my luck here at Blackpool. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to experience the same level of happiness as I had all those months ago.”I truly, truly loved the feeling and the love I experienced here at Blackpool, which I also returned.” That’s something I believe I’ve had once or twice in my career, but it’s really obvious until you go somewhere where you don’t find it.

“My family is very supportive of me,” When I return, I’ll make sure to be as involved as possible and to be a wonderful husband and father, but when I come over here, I’m fully devoted to the goal of giving Blackpool Football Club the best I can.”

With his release confirmed last month, Rhodes’ second stint at Town came to an end. In his three years with the Terriers, the attacker scored 10 goals in 64 games.Prior to leaving to play for Blackburn Rovers, the attacker had an incredible first stint at the team from 2009 to 2012. During that time, he scored 87 goals in 148 appearances.

“At times, you discover yourself moving on a specific path with teams, and it’s not always how the football world functions these days—that sense of value, of entering a setting where you feel valued,” the striker continued.

That constituted the primary reason (for signing with Blackpool). I felt that this is a place where I’m really going to enjoy coming to work from day one, even though that first game away at Lincoln didn’t go as well as we would’ve [liked] as a team (a 3-0 defeat). I felt this way because of the characters in the changing room, the manager, and the coaching staff.
