This season, the well-liked playmaker has come and gone from Ian Evatt’s team, starting just five League One games.
On Saturday against Northampton, he set up a goal for Randell Williams before returning to the sidelines at Wycombe. However, Morley managed to keep Evatt’s attention with a strong cameo in the second half, capping it off with a penalty to start the season with a point in the league.
Evatt has talked about what the former Rochdale player needs to do to ensure himself more playing time as Wanderers get ready to return to Charlton, the location of one of Morley’s best moments from the previous campaign.
He clarified, “We want stability, and Aaron is part of that.
“I believe he took up some great positions against Northampton in the first half, moving forward with George on the half-turn.
Everyone therefore, in my opinion, required to enhance the last pass and the last detail of the decision.
“All Aaron needs to do is maintain refining his technique and making sure he achieves consistency.
We are aware of his technique, but he must ensure that every week he is having a positive impact on games.
“If he wants to stay on our team, he must also perform well on defence, win duels, and track runners. These are all essential skills for a midfield midfielder.
“We’ll keep pushing Aaron and all of our midfield players for more improvement.
We have some good players in that position.”
Morley has started eight games for Wanderers this season; they have won six of them, losing the other two to Championship Middlesbrough in the cup and Wigan in the league.
In January, Bolton won 2-1 thanks to a spectacular free-kick struck by the 23-year-old at The Valley in front of the television cameras. Dion Charles also scored for Bolton.
