Rejecting the ‘contradictory’ conditions of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, Ian Evatt has suggested that Bolton’s Tuesday night match against Stockport County ought to have been postponed.
Tuesday, Wanderers will visit Edgeley Park in an attempt to win seven games in a row for the first time in over seven years. County enters the match riding a 13-game winning streak across all competitions.
The Trotters have had to navigate a number of recent fixtures with injuries to several key players and will be without their international contingent this time round.
With no option to postpone the fixture, as has happened with the weekend trip to Cambridge United, Evatt says the lack of consistency with the EFL’s scheduling is somewhat confusing.

“I think the League and the competition’s biggest gripe is that teams don’t take it seriously enough,” Evatt told bwfc.co.uk.
“We’ve tried to do that and give it the respect it deserves but that’s where my frustration comes, with still playing the game in the international window.
“It’s a little bit contradictory but it is what it is and we’ll patch the lads up and go again.
“There will be opportunities for some younger players to show us what they can do and the opportunity for others who probably haven’t been in the team of late. We’re confident whatever team we pick can be competitive.
“It’s a great game and an opportunity for us to go up against a team that is doing very, very well and having an excellent season on an unbelievable run of form.”
