Bolton Wanderers stadium sponsor donation to group which keeps the town clean

As a “sign of appreciation,” the stadium sponsors of the Bolton Wanderers FC home pitch have given money to a neighbourhood club that picks up garbage.

Toughsheet, a recycling company located in Westhoughton, has donated £1,000 to a volunteer-run organisation that is enthusiastic about maintaining cleanliness in the community.

According to reports, Charlene Bessel’s Horwich Clean-Up Brigade was having financial difficulties buying necessary cleaning supplies.

“It’s an absolutely fantastic thing run by volunteers to help keep the community tidy and they do it all on their own time,” stated Dougie Mercer, managing director of Toughsheet.

“I simply felt that I should try to help if I could, both as a token of gratitude and to make the community appear much nicer for everyone.”

Litter grabbers, hi-vis coats, and brushes will all be purchased with the money.

This contribution was made months after Toughsheet negotiated the agreement that allowed them to have their name displayed on the entrance of the building, formerly known as the University of Bolton stadium, for a period of five years.

In the club’s existence, this is the biggest sponsorship agreement.
