Bolton Wanderers’ trip to Cambridge called off….

For the third consecutive month, Ian Evatt’s team will have a free weekend when players like Josh Sheehan (Wales), Eoin Toal, and Dion Charles (all Northern Ireland) are scheduled to play for their nations.

During the most recent international break, Conor Carty of Ireland and Zac Ashworth of Wales Under-21s both played.

The game has been postponed, and Wanderers say they will make an announcement soon. However, the approximately 400-mile round trip will now probably happen during the week.

Evatt requested last month that the EFL mandate postponements throughout the division during an international break in order to prevent the league table from being “skewed” in favour of the clubs that are unable to play games.

At the moment, if three or more internationals, including Under-21s, receive notice that they will be called up by their nation, the match is immediately cancelled.

Earlier this month, Evatt stated to The Bolton News, “I think we need to do something better.” Personally, I feel that certain fixtures should not be in place.

“When most of the games are postponed due to international commitments, we must cancel them all and utilise the extra Tuesdays we have during the season. or make use of the space at season’s end?

“Even after 11 games in October, they are already two games ahead of us, so there has to be a better approach than what we are doing now. It’s not always the best course of action, in my opinion.

This morning, Cambridge United confirmed that the call-ups had solely impacted Bolton with the following message.

“Due to international call-ups for the visiting side, Cambridge United’s home Sky Bet League match against Bolton Wanderers has been postponed,” the statement stated.

The game, which was initially meant to happen on Saturday, November 18, will now take place at a later time.

“Match tickets that have already been purchased will still be valid for the rescheduled match; however, refund requests can be made by emailing .
