Evatt link Premier League opposition test

Boss Ian Evatt is looking forward to taking on Premier League opposition and a good friend in the third round of the FA Cup.

Wanderers will face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in their first third-round tie since 2019 after beating Harrogate Town 5-1 on Saturday.

And tackling the Hatters – for the first time for 27 years – means Evatt will also lock horns with former Blackpool team-mate Rob Edwards.

“It’s a Premier League draw. We are away from home so it’s going to be a difficult test and challenge,” said Evatt, whose side made it five successive home victories with the weekend win over Harrogate.

“Rob is a good friend of mine, so it’ll be interesting to see how we get along.” It’s fantastic to see him succeeding in the Premier League. We’ve been playing football together for several years and still talk frequently. I enjoy picking his brains and vice versa.

“It will be great for us to take each other on and see where both teams are at but for now, he will be concentrating on trying to keep them in the Premier League and we are concentrating on fighting on three fronts.”

Wanderers will visit Luton on the weekend of January 5-7, 2024, with more information on the date and kick-off time to come course. As a result, the Whites’ League One trip to Wigan Athletic scheduled for that weekend will be re-arranged.

In the near future, Wanderers will return to their Bristol Street Motors Trophy defence when they meet Port Vale in the last-32 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

Tickets are only £10 for adults and £5 for over-65s and under-18s, and you can get them HERE.
