Bolton Wanderers forward Conor Carty has agreed a loan move to Doncaster Rovers, sources have told Football Insider.
Carty, 21, has only recently returned to Bolton after a successful loan spell at Irish side St Patrick’s Athletic.
Ireland’s Republic Carty, an Under-21 international, is not playing much for Bolton’s first team, so the League One contenders are happy to send him out on loan so he can get regular first-team experience.
Carty made his first-team debut against Tranmere after joining
Bolton in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer from Wolves.
Throughout his tenure with the League One team, he has made a total of five appearances for Bolton.
Carty hasn’t been able to move up above strikers Victor Adeboyejo and Dion Charles in the standings, despite his encouraging debut.
Carty is currently scheduled to finalise his transfer to Doncaster, who are embroiled in a League Two relegation struggle.
Rovers have 24 points after 23 league games, one more than Salford and Colchester United below them.
Rovers’ goal total in the league this season is tied only with Gillingham and Forest Green, and manager Grant McCann is eager to bolster his team’s offensive output in January.
Joining Carty will be Luke Molyneux and Joe Ironside in a striking department that aims to win League Two this season.
In other news, after the announcement of a permanent deal, Celtic beat Rangers to sign Fabio Silva in January.
