Good New;Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt update injury return”

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has said Carlos Mendes Gomes has returned to training.

Bolton Wanderers have been without the winger over recent times. He has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Now, 24-year-old Mendes Gomes is advocating for a return to League One competition. This weekend, the Trotters return to play as they travel to Charlton Athletic.

According to the official club website, Evatt has given this update: “Carlos has trained today (Thursday), which is great news so he’s almost back as well.” I’m not sure if he’s healthy enough to participate on Saturday, but the good news is that he trained extensively today and is doing great.

Having Mendes Gomes back will be a big boost for Bolton and he gives them something different on the wing. However, as Evatt alluded to, he will have to assess him and only throw him back in if he is fit to avoid making his injury worse.

The Trotters swooped to land him over the summer from Luton Town. The Hatters gave him the green light to head out the exit door on a permanent basis after their promotion to the Premier League.

He spent last season on loan at Fleetwood Town in the third tier and was a hit during his temporary spell with the Cod Army, scoring nine goals in 37 matches altogether.

Luton signed the Senegal-born man back in 2021 but he struggled to break into their first-team. He went on to play 15 times for the Bedfordshire outfit during his time on the books there and found the net twice.

Mendes Gomes immigrated to England as a young child, spending his early years in non-league football at Chorlton and West Didsbury before moving to Morecambe. After that, he scored 18 goals in 91 games to help the Shrimps climb the football league ladder.

Bolton is keen to collect three more points against Charlton after winning 4-2 away at Wycombe Wanderers last time out. They are two points behind the top two and in fourth place on the table.
