Bolton Wanderers battle Charlton Athletic transfer race for Bristol Rovers striker’

Charlton Athletic have joined Bolton Wanderers in making an offer to sign Bristol Rovers striker Aaron Collins, as reported by London News Online.

The Addicks are currently in the midst of searching for a new manager after the sacking of Michael Appleton last week.

With the dismissals of Dean Holden and Appleton, Charlton has had a dismal season in 2023–2024 and are currently searching for their third manager.

The team is now looking for a manager during a transfer window for the second time.

They are still attempting to close a deal for Collins during current transfer window, so it doesn’t appear to be impeding them from completing transfer business.

Charlton join Bolton Wanderers in Aaron Collins race

Aaron Collins is of interest to Bolton Wanderers, according to Darren Witcoop, a sports writer, who made the announcement earlier in the day.

According to Witcoop, the club had offered to sign the striker from Bristol Rovers, but the Gas had turned down the £550,000 contract.

Bristol Live claimed that Wrexham, a League Two team, and the Trotters are vying for the 26-year-old’s signature this month.

Charlton reportedly made inquiries about the player earlier this month, but it appears that the London team has stepped up its pursuit of the striker.

Rovers turned down the Addicks’ approach, which was reportedly worth more than £500,000, according to London News Online.

The article continues by saying that it is currently unknown if Charlton would return with a fresh offer for the forward, whose contract expires at the end of the following campaign.

Aaron Collins’ stats this season

Although he moved to Newport County earlier, Aaron Collins began his football career at Bristol City, the bitter rival of Bristol Rovers.

That is where the striker lasted until 2016, when Wolves signed him, still rather young. Collins had a number of loan stints away from Molineux, but he didn’t really start to stand out until he went to sign for Forest Green Rovers.

The 26-year-old’s move to Memorial Stadium was made possible by his increasing consistency in front of goal.

The forward helped the team win promotion from the fourth division with 15 goals in his debut season. He then carried on with his scoring binge into the previous campaign, netting 16 goals; however, this season, he has only scored three.

Despite this, Collins has remained inventive for his teammates, contributing to nine goals in 27 league games as an assist.

Due to their current lack of a manager, Charlton is in a tough situation where they are trying to acquire players without having a decision made on their desire.

However, they would be thrilled to have a guy like Aaron Collins on their team, whoever steps in to take Appleton’s place.

Throughout his tenure at Bristol Rovers, the forward has been outstanding, contributing both goals and assists.

Since Collins’ contract expires in 18 months, the League One team may try to sell him for the proper price. As a result, Charlton must work quickly to outbid Bolton for Collins’ services.
