Breakthrough star signs new long-term deal as Bolton break 39-year record’

With the transfer window closed, clubs must turn to the free agent market if they want to make further additions throughout the remainder of the season. We’ve already seen the likes of Derby County take full advantage of that to sign former Stoke City man Dwight Gayle and now we could see Sheffield Wednesday or Bolton Wanderers go down a similar route

Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday eye free agent

Naturally, the two teams are in different places. In League One, Bolton is vying for an automatic promotion spot, tied with Derby for second place on the point differential. Sheffield Wednesday, on the other hand, are four points outside of safety in England’s second division and are struggling to stay in the Championship.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that their situations are so dissimilar, they are still in the same race to close a deal that might determine their future success—whether it be getting promoted or staying in the league. Ravel Morrison, a former Manchester United young player who was released by DC United, is now again a free agent. TeamTalk reports that Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton are considering signing him. This would be Morrison’s third release of his career.

Given that Morrison is now 31 years old, this may be his only chance, therefore he needs to make the proper decision now. The midfielder needs to make a big choice because Peterborough United, Bolton, and Sheffield Wednesday are also interested. Naturally, Morrison will immediately compete with Derby, his old team, in the promotion chase if he moves to Bolton.

Morrison could get last chance at success

The fact that Morrison had his greatest season at Derby—he played at Pride Park more than at any of his other 12 clubs, totaling 38 appearances—could take the edge off of any prospective promotion loss at the hands of their former star.
Morrison can consider what might have been rather than what was when reflecting on his career. A alumnus of the Manchester United academy, his future looked bright. But in the end, Morrison’s promise remained unrealized, and he is now forced to accept the fact that he may only have one more shot at winning in English football.

Morrison is said to be considering moves to Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday, and Peterborough. He is hoping to finally find a team and stay away from a fourth career release.
