Celtics, 2 Others Have ‘Kept eye’ on Grizzlies Sharpshooter: Report

The Boston Celtics are still looking for additional assistance, despite having one of the best records in the NBA. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype disclosed that the Boston Celtics are one of the teams closely monitoring Memphis Grizzlies shooter John Konchar.

In a story published on November 29, Scotto stated, “Reserve forward John Konchar is also a candidate to be dealt before the February trade deadline.” “HoopsHype has learned that the teams that have been monitoring Konchar’s situation from a distance are the Celtics, Warriors, and Lakers.”

Konchar, who is shooting 32% from distance, is not having a good season for the Grizzlies thus far. He has a career shooting percentage of 37.1% from three, so his current numbers are the exception rather than the rule.

Many players on the Grizzlies’ roster have probably made Konchar’s struggles worse. Marcus Smart, Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, and Ja Morant are some of those players. Playing with other floor spacers on a healthy Celtics team could also help Konchar.

How they would get him would be the only unanswered question. It wouldn’t be difficult to match salaries because Konchar will earn $2.4 million in 2023–2024. Konchar’s salary could also be covered by the Celtics with the $6.2 million Grant Williams trade exception.

Report: The Celtics Showed Interest in Reggie Bullock
Reggie Bullock attracted interest from a number of teams, including the Celtics, according to Scotto’s report.

Finally, league sources told HoopsHype that Reggie Bullock was being courted by a number of teams before deciding to sign with Houston, including the Bucks, Heat, Celtics, Clippers, and Pelicans. He’s also someone to keep an eye on, given his demonstrated 3-and-D proficiency and his present position in Houston.

Under the direction of former Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, the Rockets have performed better than anticipated this year. Bullock has only appeared in eight games for the Rockets, though. This may suggest that he is not going to be very successful in Houston. Similar to John Konchar, Bullock will earn roughly $3.2 million for the Rockets this season, so the Celtics can acquire him by using the Grant Williams trade exception.

But given how well they’ve played, the Rockets might very well use Bullock’s contract as leverage to sign a new player. But the Celtics could also seize the chance to acquire him if that occurred.

Jaylen Brown Shares Hilarious Photo of Kristaps Porzingis
On November 29, Jaylen Brown shared a hilarious photo of himself and Kristaps Porzingis on his personal Instagram page, sharing their faces on a movie poster for the 2008 comedy Step Brother, which starred John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell.

Brown also included a reference to the movie in the caption, saying, “Bro better not touch my drums.”

Even though the reference is humorous, the obvious friendship between Brown and Porzingis is rather endearing. Brown’s closest teammate was traded by the Celtics in exchange for Marcus Smart. Fortunately, Porzingis, who moved to Boston just a few months ago, seems to have filled that void.

The Celtics may feel so good about themselves that they shouldn’t interfere with their friendship, even though they could take their chances in trying to improve the current team through trade. A team’s ability to win championships is greatly aided by the harmony among its teammates.
