Derrick White was not available for the Boston Celtics on Saturday night due to personal issues.According to Chris Forsberg of NBC
Sports Boston, White’s iron man run of 118 games played in a row, including postseason games, would come to an end if he misses the
game. Since the birth of his first kid in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals in 2022, he hadn’t missed a game.
And why is the 29-year-old going to miss the Brooklyn Nets game on Saturday? It’s probably going to be for his second child’s birth.
Neemias Queta, the backup centre, was also ruled out of the game because to “right foot injury management.” Payton Pritchard, who has had a quiet season thus far, might see increased playing time as a result of White’s absence. Dalano Banton may also be counted on, based on Joe Mazzulla’s preferred offensive strategy against the Nets.
After defeating the Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn is playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Ben Simmons and Mikal Bridges will be seen for the first time by Boston, as the Celtics’ size should provide an advantage after Nic Claxton missed the previous four games for the Nets.
The Celtics will try to begin the 2023–24 NBA season undefeated when they tip off at Barclays Centre at 8 p.m. ET.
