The Celtics and Magic don’t play until later this month, but expect the Orlando team to keep the dates of December 15 and 17 highlighted on their calendar. Magic guard Cole Anthony stated as much, explaining why they are more motivated than usual – all because of what NBC Sports Boston commentator Eddie House said last season.
After the Magic defeated the Celtics last year, House referred to them as a “garbage” squad. The Magic obviously didn’t take it well, and they’ve won their previous four games against the C’s. Anthony appeared on “The Lowe Post” podcast to discuss why House’s words became a motivator.
“He was talking about us early last season when we played them twice in Boston, and he called us a trash team pretty much,” Anthony said. “We all, to this day, we take that personal. We always gonna remember what he said about us, so it is personal every single time we play Boston. Boston’s a great team, but it will continue to be personal. I can’t say what I really want to say, but yes.”
