“WE can’t be victims” is the message sent to the heartbroken City players following their crushing defeat in the semi-final.
The sting of losing to Wycombe in stoppage time at Valley Parade will be felt by the Bantams when they wake up today.
A chance to compete for the EFL Trophy at Wembley was cruelly taken away.
But with the league trip to Barrow on Saturday coming up quickly, Graham Alexander is adamant that there is no time to be complaining.
He remarked, “We had a few words about how proud I am after the game.”
“WE can’t be victims” is the message sent to the devastated City players after their heartbreaking semi-final loss.
The Bantams will be hurting when they wake up today after losing to Wycombe in stoppage time at Valley Parade.
It was terrible to deny me the opportunity to participate for the EFL Trophy at Wembley.
But Graham Alexander is certain that now is not the time to be whining, with the league trip to Barrow on Saturday rapidly approaching.
He said, “We had a few words about how proud I am after the game.”
“That is what needs to be done.”
After three straight victories, City has moved up to 13th position in the crowded League Two standings, only two points out of the play-offs. They have also gained nine points on sixth-place Barrow.
The stakes are higher this weekend since the Cumbrians have lost three straight games, sending them into a slump. Alexander believes it’s the perfect chance to bounce back from the previous evening.
“It’s like double points,” Alexander continued. For us, it’s a big game, but it is for them all now.
“We need to ensure that this does not represent the end of our season.
We were determined to compete all the way through, not just to make it to the finals but also to attempt to win.
It’s been taken from our possession. However, the thing with football is that it presents you with another chance, and you have to seize it.
That’s what the league programme will need to attempt to accomplish right now.
“I told the guys it was there for us if we could match that performance.
“We attacked that match the way a semifinal should be played. Distractions were absent, and we got right into it from the start.
“I’m very confident that the players will keep doing that because of that.”
